Save Money on the Bar Tab

9 Ways to Save Money on the Bar Tab!

1)      Cash Bar – This is the most obvious. Remember, if you’re having Cash Bar Only at your wedding ALWAYS tell the guests beforehand (even put it on the invitations in an elegant manner). People have to actually bring CASH with them, and many of us don’t carry cash any more!

2)      BYOB! – Check with your restaurant, but I’ve played MANY Potluck weddings over 20 years in Veterans’ Halls (and they were all invariably The Best Parties!). The guests brought what they wanted to drink, and passed it around.

Some Restaurants will also allow you to “bring your own bottle”.  ASK.  At the very least you can provide the Table Wine, and maybe an elegant ½ keg!

3)      Cash Bar w/ Free Wine/Beer – Pay only for the Opened Bottles of Table Wine from the reception, and make the Beer Free at the bar. Those who want mixed drinks can pay cash. You can also make one specialty drink, like Margaritas, free also!

4)      Serve the Champagne ONLY for the Toast

5)      Limited” Open Bar – Have Beer, Wine, and one or two liquors (rum and bourbon) Free, the rest cash. That way guests can have a any mixed drink with those liquors, and You’re NOT paying for the entire stocked bar!

6)      No Shots, No Heavy-alcohol Drinks (like Long Island Iced Tea) served for free!

7)      Close Bar 2 hours before Reception ends, and put pitchers of wine or sangria on tables for final 2 hours.

8)      Virgin Drinks – only kidding…it’s just a reminder that You Pay for the Liquor that goes in the drinks – control THAT and you control the bar!

9)      Get your drunk friends kicked out early (‘nuff said!)!
