Why do you say the DJ/MC is the Coordinator? From the moment the Announcements commence the DJ runs the show - he/she MUST carry out, as Master of Ceremonies, the Reception AS PLANNED when the couple sat with him! This means working closely with the venue coordinator and the photographer all night. The MC / DJ coordinates each event in the Reception, and sees that the Bride gets HER wedding.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes - $1 million. Most other DJ's don't, but it's required by most venues.
Why are you so inexpensive? With most DJ companies you'll speak with the Main Guy (The Owner and Salesman) who will NEVER give you a price up front. It's an old sales technique - have a Top Price, a Middle Price and a Bottom Line Price. He'll try to sell you on the Top Price, then get you to "Settle somewhere in the Middle" (don't believe me? call around for quotes!). Also, he'll charge you $1400.00, then you'll get a call from one of his "Auxiliary DJ's" a few days before the wedding. He has to pay that kid and still keep a nice profit (Does that kid have stellar references?).
I will work personally with you, and perform the Wedding myself. That way, all the planning can be executed just AS YOU WANT IT. And I don't think $900 is inexpensive! Read the Testimonials - these brides could not have dreamed of a better wedding! Remember, these salesmen will ask if you would trust your Big Day to someone charging less than $1000. YES! They'll send out a kid for much more, without ANY personalized service! Read the Testimonials, Please! There's never a reason to overpay! I PROMISE you a great wedding!
Describe your DJ style:
I Promise to care as much about the wedding as the Bride and Groom. Always
provide great, interactive fun (I have been known to get onto the dancefloor!),
always the best music from any era, always with a mind to what keeps people
dancing all night! Together we plan your night, so you'll hear all your favorite
music. It's really a sharing experience! PS...I DON'T Embarrass
Anybody!
What's the Cost for an Onsite Ceremony? Add $100, indoor or Outside. Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
No limit! I try hard to get any reasonable request in. The night belongs to the
crowd! I welcome Client Song Lists.
What Happens if you're injured and cannot make my Wedding? As with any good business, we always have backup DJ's ready to cover your wedding if something happens to me or your scheduled DJ/MC. Always! What is your usual attire?
Tuxedo, of course! But I can wear almost anything upon request!
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you
require that they provide it?
Only if I cannot find the song (very rarely happens!); also, I can download
requests immediately at any event! I take requests all night, to ensure your
guests a great time!
How many other DJs do you work with?
I play most of the weddings with an extra DJ- and I have 2 others DJ's if I'm
overbooked, but I ALWAYS tell the bride about this during our initial meeting.
I bring an
assistant DJ to every show so I can be on the floor during all announcements.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Any.
Do you share the Bride's Plan with other Vendors (Photographers, Coordinators, etc)? ABSOLUTELY! After we meet (about two weeks before the wedding), I type an Itinerary/Timeline based on everything the Bride/Groom wish to have at the Reception. I can then email/mail this to the Bride, photographer, Venue Coordinator - anybody who needs it. Then, on the day of the reception, I go over the plan with the Venue Coordinator (first dances, cake-cutting, etc). Finally, I'll spend some time with the Photographer before we begin. This is crucial; he/she will know exactly what we're doing, so they don't miss a thing! I work closely with the photographer all night.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking? After they book?
Absolutely! I always meet with clients, either at David's Bridal store (I'm a
Preferred Vendor there) or at their homes, before they book me. It's
absolutely necessary for the couple. Then we meet again to Plan the wedding
about 1-2 weeks before the event. We use the
Wedding Coordination Worksheet
at this time.
*We meet Face-to-Face about 2 weeks before the Wedding to really PLAN the Reception, so that the client gets exactly what THEY WANT (Remember, It's YOUR Wedding!). Full Client Song lists are welcome!
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
I can play any Special Ethnic Music, as long as I can prepare beforehand.
Italian, Spanish, Jewish, etc.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Absolutely. I encourage it.
Do you bring your own equipment?
I bring and use great sound equipment and lighting to every show. Also, I ALWAYS
bring back-up equipment.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered
with your service?
I always bring a Full Light show, including Vue 3 color LED lights, Chauvet
Mushroom, plus 2 Chauvet Wash lights, if needed, swirling pulsing color, etc. It
adds to the experience! This basic set-up, very effective - Add $100!
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or
client provide a table for you to set up on?
I always arrive at least 1 hour before the event. The venue will provide me with
a table and an electrical outlet.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
no.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
Absolutely not! It's the Bride/Groom's Big Day, not an opportunity for
self-promotion! Besides, a Big DJ sign in the middle of the reception is
tacky! If guests like me they can ask for a card.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I speak when necessary...Announcements, Cake-Cutting, Bouquet, Anniversary
Dance, maybe a bit to get the crowd up. Mostly I let the Music do the talking!
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
I'd play the best music, and ask them to dance! It helps if the
Bride/Groom/Party are out on the floor. Also, a nice interactive Cha-Cha or
Cupid Shuffle (line dance) will get them up! Add in some audience participation,
and maybe a Pulp Fiction Twist Contest or Paradise by the Dashboard Light
Girl/Guy Shout-off! Finally, a couple love songs
always seem to pull them from their chairs.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you
require that the client provide your meal?
I don't take breaks. A meal is greatly appreciated for me and my assistant, but
I eat while I work!
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
If I need some time away from the set-up I always seamlessly play recorded
music.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the
event?
Again, I have 2 very experienced DJ's working for me. Either one will be happy
to fill in. I have not missed an event in 20 years!
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
Never. The day belongs to that Special Couple only. That way we can plan the day
togther.
What is your overtime rate?
$100 every hour exceeding 5 hours.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
No.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
Yes, generally half total cost, the rest due by the Wedding Day. However, I
work closely with the bride and groom if they cannot afford half up front.
